How we review
- A reviewer plays the game to a point where a judgement is defensible. For a story game that means finishing it. For a live-service game it means a minimum of 30 hours across more than one content season.
- Every review states hours played and the hardware it was played on.
- We do not score a game we have not played. Having played something years ago is not the same as having reviewed it: a review here means a reviewer played it recently enough to describe the current build, and wrote it up under their own name. We do not aggregate other outlets' opinions and present them as our own.
Our scale
- 9.0 to 10 Essential. A defining example of what it is doing.
- 7.5 to 8.9 Strong. Clear flaws, clearly worth your time.
- 6.0 to 7.4 Mixed. Works for a specific audience.
- Below 6.0 Weak. We would not recommend paying for it.
Scores are set by the reviewer, not by an editor, and never adjusted after publication except to correct an error, which we then note on the page.
Facts and sourcing
- Release dates, ratings, specifications and pricing come from publishers, platform storefronts and ratings boards, and are linked in the sources list on every page.
- No page is published until an editor has verified its factual data. Unverified drafts are blocked from search indexing and from our sitemap.
- Pricing is shown as manufacturer suggested retail price and is not a live price.
Review copies and access
We accept review codes from publishers. Receiving a code buys no coverage, no score and no timing commitment. Where a publisher paid for travel or accommodation, we say so at the top of the piece. We do not agree to review conditions that let a publisher see copy before publication.
Advertising and independence
Advertising on GamingPickz is served programmatically. Advertisers cannot see editorial before it publishes, cannot request changes, and cannot buy placement in a list or a score. Ads are visually separated from editorial and labelled as advertisements.
Affiliate links
[If you add affiliate links, disclose it here and on every page carrying one. Affiliate revenue must never influence a score or a ranking. Remove this section if you use none.]
AI use
Reviews and editorial judgements are written by people. We do not publish generated review text or generated scores. Where a tool assists with research or formatting, a human editor verifies every resulting claim before publication.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and openly. A corrected page carries a dated note explaining what changed. Report an error to our contact page.
