Common questions

What hardware do I need for good frame rates?

Match your card and processor to the recommended spec, not the minimum. Every game lists a recommended graphics card and CPU: the hardware the developer says gives a smooth experience, usually around 1080p at 60 FPS. These pages group games by that recommended class, read from their own Steam pages.

Why not just list the FPS each game runs at?

Because no game has a single frame rate. It depends on your resolution, settings and exact hardware, so a fixed "runs at 60 FPS" number would be made up. What is real and stated is the recommended spec, the hardware a game was tuned to run well on, so that is what we group by.

Minimum spec or recommended spec?

The minimum is "will it launch and be playable". The recommended is "will it run well". These frame-rate pages use the recommended, higher bar. For the lowest bar, the minimum-spec tiers are on the graphics-card and processor pages.
