Splatoon
Splatoon is a 2015 third-person shooter game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii U. The game centers around player-controlled Inklings—squid-like creatures that can transform between humanoid and cephalopodic forms at will. The game centers on a variety of four-on-four online multiplayer game modes that sees Inklings use a variety of weapons that can produce and shoot ink while in their humanoid forms or tread through and hide in surfaces covered in their own ink while in their cephalopodic forms. It also includes a dedicated single-player story campaign.

Where Splatoon sits on the grid
The grid places every game in the catalogue on measured axes rather than on an opinion. This is where Splatoon lands on each map it has the data for, with the share of the catalogue it beats on each axis.
- Year
- 83ahead of 41% of the catalogue
- Reach
- 56ahead of 93% of the catalogue
Percentiles are against the games that carry a reading on that axis, not the whole catalogue: counting a game with no figure as a zero would flatter everything that has one. How the grid works.
What readers say about Splatoon
Reviews written by people who have played it. These are separate from the GamingPickz Score and are never averaged into it: that score comes from thousands of Steam reviews with a sample-size correction, and a handful of unverified ratings would distort it rather than improve it.
