Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels

Super Mario Bros. 2, known outside of Japan as Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, is a 1986 platform game developed by Nintendo R&D4 for the Famicom Disk System. Like its predecessor, Super Mario Bros., players control Mario or Luigi to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. The Lost Levels has a higher difficulty level, introducing obstacles such as the Poison Mushroom, counterproductive level warps and mid-air wind gusts. Luigi controls differently from Mario, with reduced ground friction and increased jump height. The game contains 32 levels across eight worlds, and 20 bonus levels.

Where Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels sits on the grid

The grid places every game in the catalogue on measured axes rather than on an opinion. This is where Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels lands on each map it has the data for, with the share of the catalogue it beats on each axis.

Percentiles are against the games that carry a reading on that axis, not the whole catalogue: counting a game with no figure as a zero would flatter everything that has one. How the grid works.

What readers say about Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels

Reviews written by people who have played it. These are separate from the GamingPickz Score and are never averaged into it: that score comes from thousands of Steam reviews with a sample-size correction, and a handful of unverified ratings would distort it rather than improve it.
