Problems players report

We read the 300 most recent negative Steam reviews of BioShock on 30 August 2026 and counted what they mention. These are complaints, not confirmed defects: we have not reproduced any of them, and a review describes one person's machine. What the counts tell you is which problems more than one person ran into.

  1. Crashes and freezes45 of 300 (15%)

However, this game frequently crashes when you do something as simple as open a menu, and sometimes it resets your setting for no reason.

Steam review, 4 April 2026 · 8 hours played · 8 readers marked it helpful

I have constant crashes when saving the game.

Steam review, 22 February 2025 · 1 hours played · 6 readers marked it helpful
  2. Audio and subtitles11 of 300 (4%)

Plus, the poor sound mixing means it's quite often difficult to tell what's being said during the numerous voice logs throughout the game, meaning you'll likely have to turn on subtitles.

Steam review, 8 February 2023 · 13 hours played · 6 readers marked it helpful

You could try and put up with the issues, looking all over for fixes, but I have yet to find solutions for borked texture streaming and audio cutoff that work for me.

A further 8 reviews call the game buggy or broken without saying how, which is why they are counted separately rather than assigned to a theme. Counted by keyword across review text, so a review discussing two problems is counted under both. Read the reviews yourself.
