Problems players report

We read the 300 most recent negative Steam reviews of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee on 30 August 2026 and counted what they mention. These are complaints, not confirmed defects: we have not reproduced any of them, and a review describes one person's machine. What the counts tell you is which problems more than one person ran into.

  1. Crashes and freezes20 of 300 (7%)

As far as the port goes, it was fine when I first played but FMVs don't play smoothly these days, and there are some other graphical bugs and crashes.

Awful screen tearing and crappy frame rate.

Steam review, 26 July 2020 · 2 hours played · 16 readers marked it helpful

The videos have like 1 fps and the talking keys dont work properly, like you need to push a few times for him to actually say "wait", and by that time the npcs have already walked into the grinder.

Steam review, 9 March 2017 · 2 hours played · 11 readers marked it helpful
  3. Controller and input10 of 300 (3%)

Input lag on a few levels on PC make it not playable but rather frustrating.

Steam review, 15 May 2024 · 2 hours played · 6 readers marked it helpful

It doesn't seem to support game pads and controllers, and yet the key binding is not in line with keyboards.

Steam review, 17 November 2025 · 2 hours played · 4 readers marked it helpful

A further 13 reviews call the game buggy or broken without saying how, which is why they are counted separately rather than assigned to a theme. Counted by keyword across review text, so a review discussing two problems is counted under both. Read the reviews yourself.
