Problems players report

We read the 300 most recent negative Steam reviews of Machinarium on 30 August 2026 and counted what they mention. These are complaints, not confirmed defects: we have not reproduced any of them, and a review describes one person's machine. What the counts tell you is which problems more than one person ran into.

  1. Performance and stutter16 of 300 (5%)

Ranging from 60 to 1 fps making it UNPLAYABLE.

Steam review, 28 May 2023 · 20 hours played · 5 readers marked it helpful

Constant crashes, badly optimised for this day and age, constant stutters, puzzles are frustrating, not because they're difficult, but because this stupid Josef robot inconsistently can reach or cannot reach sometimes.

Steam review, 23 November 2023 · 4 hours played · 3 readers marked it helpful
  2. Crashes and freezes14 of 300 (5%)

The game also crashed on me when I was 90% done with the game, and it doesn't autosave.

Steam review, 20 September 2019 · 4 hours played · 10 readers marked it helpful

Not where it crashed to say the least.

Steam review, 2 December 2023 · 4 hours played · 3 readers marked it helpful

A further 14 reviews call the game buggy or broken without saying how, which is why they are counted separately rather than assigned to a theme. Counted by keyword across review text, so a review discussing two problems is counted under both. Read the reviews yourself.
